THE "HORSE" GALLOPED INTO MY HOUSE

When a pet come to your house unvited, it will bring good luck to the family.

I don't know how far true it will be yet, but one thing I know that the kitty is lucky to be alive and to do be able to reside in my house is definitely the luckiest thing to happen to it....hahaha.

When I woke up that morning, heard the pitiful meowing.  So went out to investigate and along the backyard drain, this tiny kitty was desperately calling out to its mother.   Its body was coated black and wet.   It must either have fallen into the deep drain and got pluck up by someone(?) Or it has been abandoned and threw there by someone(?).

I did the wrong thing ...I took it home immediately and cleaned it up. It seems once a human being touches it, the mother will not come back for it.  If this is true,  I felt very remorseful after this because I would have separated it from the mother.....

But I cannot and could not ignored it then,

so I try to be the mother now...it eats like a horse!... really big appetite .....

and it is a tiny "spiderman"

Looking for Uncle Toto

Toto was very curious initially but had learn to accept this tiny moving "toy" ..

It must be thinking Toto is the mother..... just like to nestle close to him after dinner...

Who say dogs and cats cannot be friends..

There are 3 more kittens that drops by every mealtime....  must catch for spaying soon...

Well they do provide me with much joy  but I really cannot keep them in the house as I already had 3 doggies to take care.  So all these kittens are for adoption.  Interested parties please contact me.

REUNION DINNER -CHINESE NEW YEAR EVE

Initially, I was thinking  of eating out for the Reunion dinner this year as firstly there are only 3 of us, secondly, it will be more convenient and finally it will save the cooking and washing up for me. But then I realised that cooking the Reunion dinner and clearing up after that,is all what Chinese New Year is about..... IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENT OF CHINESE NEW YEAR!

So  my homecooked Reunion Dinner together with my sister-in-law and her mother and sister

Vegetarian Yu Sang - bought from the market, I only need to add the radish and carrot 

Not a wholly vegetarian dish- it has dried oysters and fatt choy!

Poached Chicken and hence Hainanese Chicken Rice with chili dipping sauce 

Cantonese-style Fried Prawns with ketchup

Hakka Braised Pork Belly and Fish Maw and Fishball soup made up the rest of the menu.

and porridge with dried oysters and scallops and roasted pork bones

Because we can get BIG angpow from boss! hahaha

TROPICAL SPICE GARDEN

Our second day in Penang began with a Malaysian breakfast - Roti Canai and the rest of the rotis flavours at the Restoran Kapitan. This is the first time for Eunice's parents and they are truly fascinated with the flipping and tossing of the roti canai! They also like the teh tarik even though it was a bit on the sweet side.

The first stop was to the Burmese temple -

beat the bell to announce our arrival at the temple..

I was amazed by the intricate and beautiful carvings in this temple... 

Opposite the Burmese temple is the Siamese Temple.... 

where you can see the Reclining Buddha.. 

According to my itinery, our next stop should be to the heritage sites of Georgetown to locate the wall murals or street arts so that we can beat the afternoon heat. However, our driver decided otherwise and drove us to the Tropical Spice Garden instead.

We were warmly greeted by the representatives here and were briefly informed of the layout of the various gardens and the walks available.  We decided to wander by ourselves and after being spritzed with the mozzies repellant (which smell wonderful) we ambled along the pathways.

The herb garden- lemongrass, tumeric and galangal etc.

Showed Eunice's mother how these stone grinders were being used.

Freshly brewed herbal tea to quench our thirst on the way.

It was Misai Kucing tea for the day...can sit and enjoy the cool breeze here.  

There is even a waterfall ....

and take a minute to relive our childhood with the giant swing among these tall trees.... 

These are the giant lily pads....... I have seen photos of  these- can grow so big that you can sit on them!

we were told that their bestseller is Tiramisu - which unfortunately we did not try!

But we tried their bestseller Guiness Beef Pie and it was very good- none of the bitter taste!

On the way back after lunch.... managed to came across these 2 street art only

Our next stop to the beautiful heritage site of Khoo Kongsi Temple.

And also the Chew Jetty

After this we went back to the hotel to freshen up before dinner.   We had a yummy seafood dinner before a boat cruise to watch fireflies! These magical and mystical creatures literally lit up the mangrove trees along the riverside- just like Christmas lights!What a memorable ending for the trip....

Woke up early and managed to catch sunrise at the beach opposite the hotel

After the late night, all of them managed to get back some rest and sleep. We checked out of the hotel and went for a dimsum brunch.  We did some shopping for Penang's special biscuits/cookies and sesame oil before departing straight to Kuala Lumpur.
