DANANG-HOI AN TRIP 2019 #2

16/32019
HOI AN-MARBLE MOUNTAIN- DANANG
CAM THANH COCONUT  VILLAGE

After our breakfast at the hotel it was time to move on to Danang/Imperial city of Hue..

Cam Thanh Village - the beginning of some fun.

Cam Thanh Coconut Village is located about 5km from the southeast of the Hoi An Old Town.  Cam Thanh village was used as a base for the army and people of Hoi An in the two wars against the French and the American. Nowadays, this mangrove forest near the estuary of Cua Dai River is a provider of seafood for the region.

Each of the bamboo boat can carry only 2 passengers

Doing what he should have done years ago......

These boatmen make the most amazing souvenirs from the palm leaves..

Enjoying the music and swirling boat ride...

After cruising down the river, including stops along the way to catch the tiny mud crabs, all the boats finally converge here. We were entertained by the men manning these big bamboo basket boats. There was a dazzling dance performance, swirling with his legs and spinning the boat round and round to the joyful music.

a fisherman casting his nets..

training for the dragon boat race...

On the way back to Danang, we visited Marble Mountain, situated between Hoi-An and Danang. There is a glass lift that took us up nice panoramic view instead of us walking.

The Marble Mountains are a cluster of five hills made from limestone and marble in Da Nang. It's also a well-known pilgrimage site with peaks, caves, tunnels and temples. These 5 prominent hills are named after the elements metal, wood, water, fire and earth.  The area around the Marble Mountains is  renowned for stone-cutting and sculpture.  But the guide told us due to the over-cutting of marble from these mountains, nowadays most marble are imported from overseas-wiki.

Mt. Thuy (the Water Mountain) is the highest and most visited by the tourist.. the glass elevator is situated here.

The Xa Loi Tower

Rock climbing  -

The highlight was the Huyen Khong Cave and the "Heaven Door" a miniature one from the Heaven door in Zhangjiajie China.

inside the Huyen Khong Cave

“Up to Huyenkhong cave together,No more dust of life is in your mind”

Besides the spiritual value of the cave, it also has a historical value. During the war against French colonialism, this cave used to be a secret base for local communist leaders and guerilla. In the time that American Empire invaded Vietnam, American military made this one into commando training place as well as a garrison of the old South Government and American units.
This Mr. Dat is very attentive and caring ..making sure we really enjoy ourselves..

the steep climb up....

Resting and cooling down with ice-cream after the hike up the cave.

Lunch at this restaurant. in fact all the meals we had during this trip were great...

Hai Van Pass or Sea Clouds Pass offers an impressive landscape of verdant mountains and clear blue skies, overlooking Da Nang City, Tien Sa Port, Son Tra Peninsula, and South China Sea. Crossing over a spur of Truong Son mountain range between Thua Thien-Hue Province and Da Nang City, it stands at 500m above sea level, making it the highest pass in Vietnam.

suddenly it became misty and chilly winds...

The relics of the pass... Hai Van Gate and Hai Van Tunnel which is the longest tunnel in Asean at 21 kilometres.

The broadwalk along the Huong River.. the tinkling music of the gusheng ...

Houng River aka the Perfume River. We took a leisurely walk along the esplanade to catch the the sun set (missing as the sky turned cloudy).

This place is sponsored by the Korean Government.

broken pottery recycled as decor ?

Decorative barges ... for hosting  after dinner shows.

Alfresco dining under the stars, another yummy meal

Performance of traditional music and songs of Hue ..

using tiny teacups to make music.
Even though we do not understand what they are singing, we can give credit for their vocals.  At the end of the show, you can buy roses to give them as a kind of tipping.  We were then given these paper lanterns to release on the river as the boat made a short cruise down the river.

Blessing of health, peace, joy, happiness and  kindness to the world

NIGHTLIFE - just look at this sea of motorcycles @ the walking street ie the happening place to be seen and to taste the home brew craft beers of Vietnam

We choosed this American-style pub where the owner (I think so) was dancing to the music of the jukebox!

this complimentary plate of fresh tomato bruschetta comes with the beers we ordered.

Pub- crawling....
