THE PARTY CONTINUES @ RETREAT #2

The guru- all  bright and ready to start.

We wanted to have a sunrise yoga session with May again.  The Bali Villa unfortunately was not air-con for the time being and as a result it was rather warm during the night but we managed to get up early for the yoga.   

Option for her .. doing the standing up version..hahaha..

Meanwhile, the gentlemen were very patient waiting for us to finish before we all go for our buffet breakfast at the dining hall.

Getting into their jeep that took us for a thrilling uphill drive all the way to the top of the mountain to see the future developments  for the resort.   They are building Mongolian yurts further up the hill. 

There are some glass apartments at the top of the hill.  Nice view but rather hot  up here.  However the apartments are all air-con so it's not a problem.  The only inconvenience would be the transport up and down to the main dining hall.  It is actually rather steep to walk up/down but for us it was such a thrilling ride.. thanks to the careful driving skills of the driver.... hahaha.

THE PARTY CONTINUES WITH A FAMILY RETREAT #1

An amazing feat with my Chan Clan.. 

It was an heart-stopping jungle hike not because of the difficult terrain (in fact we were told by the guide, very easy trail!!) but because in our group, we have 2 septuagarians, my eldest sister and the birthday boy who just turned 70; a handful of sexagenarians; a eight-month pregnant niece as well as 2 small kids below  5 years! My heart was almost in my mouth everytime we came across a difficult part of the hike.

After resting awhile, there were too many mosquitoes around, we were told that the only way back was to go back the same way!!!... Thankfully, as the saying goes "the return is always faster than the going".

What a wonderful achievement for all of us and truly this will be forever imprinted in my mind and heart as one of the best bonding time and fun together. 

Time to wash off the sweat and the dirt! 

Finally, what bliss! She gives credit to her daily dose of Tai-chi exercise that enable her to hike up and down all the way!

soon was lulled into a  peaceful nap.

Buffet dinner was scheduled at 7.00 to 9.00pm. and then there is open Karaoke session in the main hall for anyone.
A few of us went back  to the villa for our first evening yoga session with my sister May as the guru.  

WHAT A SURPRISE PARTY!!!!

KK Chan, my second brother.

We have been told of the plan for his surprise 70th birthday party 2-3 months ago and it was indeed a very wonderful surprise for him!  We managed to keep mum not only about the planning but also the arrival of my other siblings from Melbourne too!  They arrived in KL just 2 days before the date and we had to make sure no photos leaked out onto the group chat.

the wife casually told him go for the usual saturday nite dinner at the RGB & The Bean Hive Cafe and imagine his suprise when he opened the door to cries of SURPRISE! and see all his friends and family!  the biggest surprise was when he went further in and noticed my sisters and hubby from Melbourne!! My youngest brother due to work commitment could not be back though.   

Old -school Marbled Butter cake all the way with buttercream and fresh fruits.
We had purposely left the cake "naked" so that the marble effects are visible.

Besides the birthday cake, we have Pandan Slices with Gula Melaka Buttercream and syrup, mini chocolate cupcakes with frosting, mini cheese tarts, Lemon Meringue Tarts and of course the Red eggs with pickled ginger; Angku Kueh (which was ordered from my neighbour) and Jelly. 

My sis-in-law Evon who made all those jelly.
We followed the theme and brought out all our enamelware plates, trays and tiffin carriers to hold the cakes.
