MY HAPPY ULA-LA DISH

It is a snake, it is a long bean, it is Happy Ula-la

My friend kindly gave me some home-grown long beans for my birthday.  Healthy food for longevity.
To make these rounds, you got to first blanch the long beans in boiling salted water for just a few second to soften them.  Immediately plunge them into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Then just twine them rounds leaving a longer tail or should it be the head?

Grease the steaming dish with some oil to prevent sticking.  Stuff the long beans with fish paste. You should stuff them from behind so the top/front looks smooth and round.

Steam over high heat for just 10 minutes if you prefer the long beans still crunchy or longer if you want them soft.

While the long beans are steaming, you can prepare the sauce.
Fry minced garlic till fragrant, add some chili bean paste and sugar and a bit of water if it is too dry. Adjust seasoning and lastly add in some chopped coriander.
You can either pour the sauce over the long beans or use as a dipping sauce.
Easy to cook and simply delicious and so appropriate for this Snake Year.
